Studien zur Musikwissenschaft

Founded in 1913 by Guido Adler Studien zur Musikwissenschaft (Studies in the field of musicology) were intended as a supplement to the edition series Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Österreich (DTÖ). The journal comprises studies directly connected with specific volumes of DTÖ as well as studies in the wider field of Austrian music history, "Austria" being defined by historical context. Many articles concentrate on Austrian music repertoires, collections, and other sources from local or international archives relevant to the history of Austrian music. In Adler’s days many of his pupils published articles in the Studien, among them Rudolf Ficker, Wilhelm Fischer, Robert Haas, Ernst Kurth, Felix Salzer, and Egon Wellesz. In the decades after WW II the journal similarly reflects the main focus and current interests in Austrian musicology.
