In the birth of the University of Tarapacá in the city of Arica, the headquarters of two long-standing university institutions are merged in our country: the Arica headquarters of the University of Chile (later, the Professional Institute of Arica) and the Arica headquarters of the Northern University. In this way, our university, by history, tradition, identity, conviction and choice is the university of the new Region of Arica and Parinacota. We recognize ourselves in their heritage and in their ancestral culture, assuming, in addition, the challenge of forming the best professionals we need for the development and collective welfare, both in this region and in the country.

En el nacimiento de la Universidad de Tarapacá en la ciudad de Arica se funden las sedes de dos instituciones universitarias de larga data en nuestro país: La sede Arica de la Universidad de Chile (posteriormente, Instituto Profesional de Arica) y la sede Arica de la Universidad del Norte. De esta manera, nuestra universidad, por historia, por tradición, por identidad, por convicción y opción es la universidad de la nueva Región de Arica y Parinacota. Nos reconocemos en su patrimonio y en su cultura ancestral asumiendo, además, el desafío de formar los mejores profesionales que necesitamos para el desarrollo y el bienestar colectivo, tanto de esta región como del país.
