ABSTRACT This study evaluated the IS6110‐RFLP patterns of 109 Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates of patients with HIV cared for at a Brazilian university hospital. Thirteen clusters involving 35 (32.1%) individuals were identified. Nosocomial transmission was possible in 5 cases. Strategies to prevent M. tuberculosis transmission should be implemented in hospitals in developing countries.
