Abstract

This article explores the education of girls through the performance of choral ritual by focusing on the myths through which instruction was given. It finds in the Louvre Partheneion of Alcman, Sappho's ceremonial poetry, and the fragments of Telesilla and Corinna a recurrent theme of male violence in response to female sexuality related to the foundation of some rite or institution, and it describes the lessons such myths contained./Étude de l'éducation des filles à travers la célébration de rites choraux, en s'attachant aux mythes par lesquels une part de l'instruction était dispensée.
