Abstract

The "Planwerk Innenstadt" ("master plan for the inner city") was passed in 1999 by the Berlin local government as the official model for local architectural projects in an extended area that includes the historic city center. The plan is based on the urbanistic concept of the "European City" and has been the subject of a heated debate since its first publication.
