Abstract

Crystal defects affect both the static and dynamical properties of a crystalline solid. Computer experiment simulation of atomic motions in a crystal is a useful way to explore the particular time-average atom arrangement and atomic vibrational behavior associated with each type of crystal defect. Such simulation gives an explicit numerical description of the statistical mechanical phase space region traced out by the crystal during the simulation time interval.
