A new genus and species of deep-sea anglerfish of the family Oneirodidae is described on the basis of eight female specimens from the northern Pacific Ocean. Although the new form appears to be closely related to the oneirodid genus Dolopichthys, it is unique among oneirodid genera in having a hyomandibular bone with a single head. Morphological differences between the new genus and Dolopichthys relate functionally to differences in food and feeding habits.
