Thirteen species belonging to the ostracode genus Bairdia are divided into four groups based on differences and similarities in the morphology of the male copulatory organ. The effect of temperature, salinity, and substrate on the distribution of Bairda is discussed. Four new species of Bairdia and one new species of Bairdoppilata collected in the Bahamas are described. The carapaces of females have smaller lenght-heigth ratios than those of males.
