Abstract

A new species of Tropidophis is described from the province of Villa Clara in north-central Cuba. It has a buff ground color with bold brown spots fused to form zebra-like bands. In scalation and coloration it differs from all other species in the genus, but is tentatively placed in the Tropidophis maculatus group.
