Abstract

Palladium dichloride whiskers can be prepared by reacting palladium with chlorine at temperatures above 500 degrees C. The crystals measure 1 × 100 micrometers and are strong (5 percent elastic deformation). They may be a morphological form of one of the high-temperature polymorphs of pdCl$_{2}$.
