Abstract

This paper reports the proceedings of a one-day Conference organized jointly by the Institute of British Geographers, the Royal Geographical Society and the Social Science Research Council. The purpose of the Conference was to identify specific problems in the field of urban systems research, with a view to stimulating research activities by geographers. As reported here, a considerable number of topics came to light and it is evident that a large amount of very important work both urgently needs to be done and is feasible.
