Abstract

Counts of mitotic chromosomes have allowed to determine 2n = 12 as the modal diploid number of Anilocra physodes. Application of the C-banding technique reveals that two heterochromatic blocks bordering the centromeric region occur in each chromosome. This supports the notion that the actual low chromosome number of A. physodes may have been derived through a process of Robertsonian fusion. /// Il valore diploide modale 2n = 12 è stato determinato per Anilocra physodes dal conteggio dei cromosomi mitotici. L'applicazione del bandeggio C ha rivelato la presenza di due blocchi eterocromatici ai bordi della regione centromerica di ciascun cromosoma. Ciò contribuisce a sostenere l'ipotesi che l'attuale basso numero di cromosomi di A. physodes possa essere derivato per un processo di fusione Robertsoniana.
