Abstract

Some of the challenges in teaching information and knowledge organization courses in library and information science programs is the interdisciplinarity of the content, the breadth of the canvas, and the conceptual nature of such courses. This paper describes the experience of using WebCT, a world wide web based class management system to augment the classroom instruction at the University at Albany. It discusses student participation in the online component of the course and the ways in which it enriched student learning.
