Abstract

Phytosociological and ecological analysis of bryophytic communities settling on clayey-silty banked edges were carried out in the "Plateau des Tailles" area (Belgian High Ardenne). Two communities are described: the first one, the Calypogeietum muellerianae Philippi 1963, is located on acidic, humus-rich soils; two subassociations are distinguished. This community is essentially found on the highest parts of the "Plateau des Tailles" whereas the Calypogeietum fissae Schumacher 1944 occurs at lower altitudes, on less acidic and humus-poor soils.
