A new species of Morchella is described from Costa Rica with the name of Morchella herediana. A comparison, based on chromatic macrochemical reactions as those used in the taxonomy of Agaricales is tried effectively with Morchella elata Fr., previously reported from Costa Rica, and the new species. The affinities of Morchella herediana with Morchella intermedia Boudier from Madagascar and Morchella patagonica Speg. from South America are discussed in table two. The author also reports some oecological observations on the fungus.
