Abstract

N-banding of root tip metaphase chromosomes was used to identify isochromosomes for the long arm of chromosome 5B in a line of the wheat cultivar Chinese Spring. A comparison with the N-banding pattern of normal chromosome 5 revealed that both arms of the isochromosomes had a banding pattern identical to that of the long arm of chromosome 5B.
