Approximately 50 captive short-tailed shrews (Blarina brevicauda) were observed during a 3-year period. From these observations and descriptions by earlier authors, an ethogram consisting of 54 specific behavior patterns was established. The ethogram is presented as a tool for future interspecific behavioral comparisons and as an initial guide for behavioral studies of Blarina in the field.
