Abstract

The well-known theorem of Pohlke states that three coplanar vectors, not all parallel, can always be obtained by (oblique) parallel projection of three mutually orthogonal vectors of the same length. A simple proof of this theorem is given. The problem is reduced to showing that three circular cylinders (equations (6), (7) and (8') p. 75) have at least one point in common.
