Cyclostachya (Tribe Chlorideae), a monotypic genus of dioecious grasses from central Mexico, is described as new. It is based on Bouteloua stolonifera Seribn., which had been known only from pistillate material. The staminate plants are here described for the first time. In addition to its dicliny, the new genus may be distinguished from Bouteloua by the hyaline ligule. Comparison is made with the related diclinous and stoloniferous genera Opizia, Buchloe, Pringleochloa, and Fourniera. A key is included
