The presence of Stellaria pallida (Dum.) Pire (= S. apetala auct. non Ueria) in North America is confirmed on the basis of material recently collected at Kitty Hawk, N.C. The differences between this species (2n = 22) and the ubiquitous weed S. media (L.) Vill. (2n = 40-44) are tabulated.
