Abstract

This paper is a further study of the Arabic dialect of the Negev Bedouins living in southern Israel, following my late colleague, H. Blanc's paper on the subject, published in 1970. The writer's fieldwork of 1971, published in Hebrew in 1979, includes an ethnolinguistic study of the Negev Bedouin verbal etiquette system, and its linguistic description. The present English version sheds additional light on the Bedouin dialect. It is intended for a wider readership in Bedouin and Arabic linguistic studies on the various levels: phonology, morphology, syntax, and lexicological semantics.
