Abstract

Many traditions and reports in Muslim literature praise the practice of wearing woolen clothes and state that Muḥammad and the prophets used to wear wool. These traditions reflect the simple lifestyle and behaviour which were regarded as preferable by Islam, and the consequent position that was adopted opposing such things as luxurious clothes.
