Abstract

This article is a critical examination of psychological inquiry as it has been applied to the study of higher education, particularly in the area of teaching and learning. It outlines some of the espistemological characteristics of psychological contributions to higher education scholarship and shows how these characteristics relate to the intellectual and methodological traditions by which psychology defines itself as a discipline.
