A Simple Method for Evaluating the Shapiro-Francia W' Test of Non-Normality

Abstract

Shapiro and Francia's W' statistic is a convenient and powerful test of non-normality. Some percentage points of W' are tabulated up to n = 1 000, and a simple algorithm for evaluating its significance level is presented. The algorithm is easily programmed on microcomputers and hand-held calculators.
