Abstract

The regional anatomy of the avian coxofemoral joint is reviewed and compared to that of mammals. Differences include angle of the femoral head and neck to the femoral shaft, type of joint and range of motion, and thigh musculature. A case report of a new technique for open-reduction of a coxofemoral luxation is presented, including a discussion of coxofemoral luxations, repair techniques and their consequences.
