(1) A model of the within-field dynamics of the cereal leaf beetle (Oulema melanopa (L.)) in wheat and oats describes the phenology and development of beetle populations developing primarily on oats. (2) Submodels for simulating the effects of soil moisture and weather on the development of the host plant are also included. (3) An effort is made to provide a method for assessing the effects of beetle-feeding on yield reductions.
