Abstract

The colloidal organic carbon component (effective spherical diameter 21-450 nm) of running waters in Canada and New Zealand was determined by ultracentrifugation. The proportion in Canadian waters varied from 29.2-52.6% of the organic carbon <450 nm and the equivalent figures for New Zealand were 0-20.6%.
