Abstract

More than fifty distinct minerals have been identified in the kimberlite pipes of Riley County, Kansas by x-ray, optical, and chemical methods; and the presence of approximately twenty more is indicated. Primary kimberlite minerals constitute only a small percentage of those found as most occur in xenoliths and as secondary alteration and/or replacement products.
