A new subspecies of Eutamias dorsalis is formally described. This subspecies apparently is confined to coastal Sonora north of Guaymas. Its head and body length is less than that of E. d. dorsalis, and it has a much smaller and narrower skull, a proportionately broader rostrum, and longer ossa genitalia.
