The soil-inhabiting Lathraeodiscus arcticus gen. nov., sp. nov. (Pyronemataceae, Pezizales) is described from lowland high-arctic areas in Greenland and Svalbard. Lathraeodiscus arcticus is similar to species of Marcelleina in having vinaceous-purplish pigments, but differs in characters of excipulum anatomy and spore shape.
