Abstract

El presente artículo aborda la investigación realizada por Antonio Domínguez Ortiz sobre el problema converso, destacando algunos puntos de especial relevancia. En primer lugar, se explica cómo este asunto ha sido una constante en la reflexión del autor a lo largo de su vida profesional, lo que indica la importancia que para él tenía este problema a la hora de entender cabalmente la Historia Social española durante la Edad Moderna. Al problema converso dedicó sus primeros trabajos, lo que le coloca entre los pioneros en este campo y le otorga el mérito de ser uno de sus principales "descubridores". Además, en este artículo se ha querido destacar la originalidad y vigencia de sus interpretaciones en relación con el conjunto de la historiografía que se viene ocupando del tema. Por último, se discuten algunos aspectos polémicos que aparecen en sus trabajos. /// This article approaches the research done by Antonio Domínguez Ortiz on the converso pro-blem, stressing certain points of special relevance. First of all, it explains how this matter has been constantly present in the author's reflections throughout his professional life, which vouches for how important this problem was for him in his attempt to reach a proper understanding of Spanish Social History during the Modern Age. His first works were indeed on this subject, which makes him one of the pioneers in this field and gives him the merit of being one of its main "discoverers". This article also aims to stress the originality and current significance of his interpretations as regards the whole historiographic work which has been done on this matter. Lastly, certain controversial aspects appearing in his work are discussed.
