The images of 171 stars in the field of the previously well-observed open cluster, NGC 457, have been measured using U, B and V plates obtained with the 84-inch reflector. The primary purpose of this work was to test the suitability of the telescope and iris photometer for photographic photometry and to provide material for use in developing machine reduction routines for handling measures of direct plates.
