Abstract

We have constructed a four-channel photon-counting spectrophotometer specialized for the measurement of stellar chromospheric calcium emission. The instrument is described and the results of observations, taken on the Mount Wilson 60-inch (1.5-m) telescope contemporaneously with independent observations by Wilson on the coudé scanner of the Mount Wilson 100-inch (2.5-m) telescope, are presented and compared. These results comprise the fundamental calibration of the new instrument in Wilson's scale of mean H-K fluxes for main-sequence stars.
