The stars designated as super-metal-rich (SMR) by Spinrad and Taylor in 1969 can be readily recognized as a distinct group by the CN bands, which are stronger than expected for the luminosities indicated by the usual line ratios. We have classified on the Revised MK System 50 of these stars, assigning positive CN indices in recognition of the characteristic excesses of carbon and nitrogen in their atmospheres, as compared to normal Population I stars.
