WMAs are divided into two management units: (1) the northern WMAs which have high wildlife biomass, valuable wildlife species and a reasonable tourism potential and, (2) the southern WMAs in drier areas, with low wildlife biomass, less valuable species and low tourism potential. The southern WMAs have larger numbers of people dependent on wildlife for their basic requirements.
