The new genus Madangia is described with the sole species M. inflata P.I.Forst., D.J. Liddle & I.M. Liddle. M. inflata is thus far known only from the Madang Province of Papua New Guinea. The genus is closely allied to Hoya R.Br. to which it is compared.
