Abstract

Preplacement characteristics and educational status of youthful offenders were examined and described. Information from two-hundred twenty youth produced data regarding family and domicile, types of offenses, and intellectual and achievement levels. Educational services provided to these youth were examined in contrast to services suggested by intellectual and achievement testing. Marked discrepancies were noted in educational services provided to handicapped youth prior to their adjudication.
