Abstract

An increase in the incidence of pelvic inflamatory disease (PID) at a busy youth health clinic has been documented. In a retrospective analysis of 191 cases diagnosed between May 1st and November 31st, 1974, we discuss some major variables found: — The overall incidence of gonococcal infection (1937%) — The incidence of indwelling intrauterine contraceptive devices (33.51%) — Previous gynaecological intervention (28.80%) Comparison with other studies is made and our study's implications are discussed.
