Abstract

This study evaluated the St. John Ambulance program, Child Care in the Home, for its effectiveness in influencing the knowledge, attitudes and skills of child care. The study population consisted of 102 subjects, aged 12 to 19. Subjects were randomized into four groups. For each of the three outcome measures (knowledge, attitude and skills), post-test scores were analyzed using 2 × 2 analysis of variance. Analysis of covariance was carried out to control for initial knowledge. Results indicated significant experimentalcontrol differences in all three measures confirming course effectiveness.
