Abstract

Xiphinema index had been isolated from different Italian (n. 16) vineyards proved also in Italy to be a vector of a virus responsible for the complex grape disease called « infective degeneration ». The reaction on Vitis rupestris var. St. George and Chenopodium amaranticolor suggests that the virus transmitted is the grape fanleaf virus (GFV).
