Abstract

Several Mycoplasma-like bodies were present in the phloematic tissues of root and leaf. Some of these bodies were caracterized by a rippled cell wall, typical of Rickettsiae. Sporadically virus-like particles, in some cases enveloped in a wall, were also visible in the root phloema. At present the nature and role of these particles are unknown ; they could be associated with degenerating mycoplasma bodies.
