Abstract

Haploid tissue of the female gametophyte of Microcycas calocoma was induced to proliferate in vitro, and a considerabie growth, was obtained using Murashige and Skoog's mineral medium without IK, supplemented with vitamines and hormones. Color, consistency and growth rate of the tissues differ according to the concentrations of NAA and coconut milk added. Roots developed in some media. Growth of the cultures, in which the rate decreases with subsequent transplantations, was maintained during 5 passages.
