Abstract

This document summarizes the results of the genetic variation in the quantification at the seed and the nursery level of 16 provenances of Acacia mangium carried-out at CATIE, Turrialba, Costa Rica. They indicate that considerable differences exist between the different seed sources studied in dimensions of seeds and growth of the plants in the nursery. From the point of view of indirect selection it is important to know if the growth behaviour of these provenances continues after they are planted in the field. This will be determined when the results of the field trials from these plants are analysed.
