Abstract

Four different isolates of Fusarium responsible for vascular wilt of Egyptian Cotton have been compared as regards their morphological characters and physiological behaviour under varying cultural conditions. Preliminary pathogenicity experiments proved variation in the pathogenic potentialities of the four isolates towards susceptible Egyptian Cotton varieties. Morphological and physiological variations among the isolates were shown on a variety of agar media, as well as on varying temperature, pH value and carbon and nitrogen sources of liquid culture media. The four isolates were identified as Fusarium oxysporwn Schl. f. vasinfectum (Atk.) Sn. et Hans., F. solani (Mart.) App. et Wr., F. vasinfectum (Atk.) f₁ Wr. strain Fahmy, and F. vasinfectum Atk. App. et Wr., F. vasinfectum (Atk.) f₁ Wr. ceppo Fahmy e F. vasinfectum Atk.
