Abstract

Elisabeth Geertruida Wassenbergh (1729-1781) was the daughter and pupil of the Groningen painter Jan Abel. The author has found four conversation pieces by her hand, which are here published. This painter exhibits a talent of her own, the soberness of the North being coupled to a delicate perception of colour.
