Abstract

A tinted water-colour drawing by Barent Avercamp (Art Gallery Schreiten, Amsterdam; repr. J, signed and dated 1650 (185 × 280 mm.) helps us in better distinguishing the drawings of this artist. The characteristic pose, somewhat stiffly side by side, shows much resemblance to the little groups of figures in his paintings. The personages represented are unknown; they may represent the painter and his family.
