Abstract

Leaf discs of Streptocarpus nobilis were cultured in vitro under conditions leading to flowering. The histological aspects of the in vitro flower bud development were studied. It was found that in some instances flower buds develop from meristematic cells differentiated from wound tissue, and in others they arise directly from epidermal and sub-epidermal leaf blade tissues.
