Abstract

Cytochemical observations indicate the occurrence of leucoanthocyanidins in the protein bodies of Cercis siliquastrum endosperm; the endosperm cell walls give a positive Mayer's test, indicating mucopolysaccharides. These results are discussed in relation to the endosperm-imposed dormancy of the seed.
