Abstract

This paper addresses the problem of bringing together the domicile needs of older persons as they move down the life course and managed health care plans that attempt to finance and deliver the appropriate amount and type of care required. It begins by focusing on health care reform in general and then moves to the special needs of the older population in particular. Following a review of several innovative models designed to manage the comprehensive care of this group, architects will be encouraged to recognize and plan for elders who will increasingly receive health care in their homes and through community-based services.
