Abstract

Present methods of estimating cost rely on precise definition of the proposed building in working drawings and specifications. This paper describes alternative methods of arriving at estimates, using regression models of cost, based on a few descriptors such as volume, number of lavatories, and the like. Regression techniques and concepts are illustrated and some detailed results are given for a sample of Finnish factory and warehouse buildings.
